The Golden Coast

I am currently in California. It is a place I never thought I would visit, but here I am. I have to say its not to bad. In the past I've had some strong feelings about California or, ugh, "Cali" but its a new year and we all have to change sometime right?

I'm here visiting friends. Its both different and the same as the idea I had in my mind. Its different because there are mountains EVERYWHERE and I think thats pretty cool. Its the same because I met some people that were "Cali" incarnate.

We visited my friend's uncle's house. It was a mansion overlooking a beautiful valley. There were palm trees in the front yard and a pool in the back. My friend's 11 year old cousin was very proud of being from California as I found out.

"So your from Florida huh?"
"Yep!"
"Oh ok, what do you think of the Golden Coast?"
"Haha, its ok I guess."
"I like the Lakers!"
"I'm going to get some water..."

I'm really glad I came to visit. If anything I learned that I can't let my expectations of a place or thing hold me back from experiencing something new.
